About
Find My LAN Device helps you quickly identify devices connected to your local network (IP cameras, Wi-Fi access points, printers, NAS, etc.).
The app performs an intelligent scan based on connection attempts to common ports and services.
Due to iOS restrictions, we do not use low-level functions such as ARP tables or native ping.
This approach is still sufficient for the intended use cases.
FAQ
Why do some devices take a long time to appear?
Some devices run on battery (cameras, sensors, IoT devices) and may go into sleep mode.
In this case, they respond very slowly to detection attempts.
You may need to wake them up (e.g. by pressing a button or activating them through their dedicated app).
Why does the scan sometimes feel slow?
The scan relies on successive connection attempts to well-known services (HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, etc.).
Depending on the number of devices and the state of your network, this may take some time.
What are the technical limitations?
iOS does not allow access to low-level networking functions (ICMP ping, ARP table).
The app works around this using application-level methods.
This may behave differently from professional network tools, but it remains appropriate for everyday configuration needs.
What are the “Aggressive Scan” and “Bonjour” options?
-
Aggressive Scan: when enabled (ON), the app performs more connection attempts to identify additional devices.
This can provide better results but may also increase scan time and network load.
When disabled (OFF), the scan is faster but may be less exhaustive.
-
Bonjour: this option enables Bonjour/mDNS discovery for compatible devices.
When ON, more Apple and IoT devices can be detected.
When OFF, the app only relies on port/service scans.
